So we’ve finally have a Metro Mayor, Tim Bowles has won the £62000 a year job. The turnout was only 29.7% so even if he received half of the votes only 15% of our region voted for him.

Just another example of the disconnect between the public and the people who represent us, how many people even know the name of their Metro Mayor, MP, or local councillors, let alone know what if anything they are doing for us or how they are spending our money?

Surely we need less levels of bureaucracy and perhaps listen to the pubic, if only 30% of people can see any reason to vote for a Metro Mayor maybe we don’t need one?
