I have just watched the lunchtime news and was intrigued by two stories that ran in succession, the first was Hospital closures and the second was Stonehenge proposed tunnel

There was some concern that one of the proposed routes for the new tunnel would intrude on the view of the setting sun at the winter solstice.

Sorry but are we currently in austerity measures? Hospital closures, cuts to services for our vulnerable and elderly, serious issues with a lack of police and other critical services. I often use the A303 and get frustrated by the delays but I’m not sure that this is the time to be spending more than 1.5 billion pounds on a tunnel?

I’m sure that Stonehenge has historical significance and we want to preserve it for future generations but that’s no consolation if you’re on a hospital waiting list.

Maybe some perspective is needed?
